My new goals for the next four months s to save some money from the previous sales of my farm produce to buy seeds and fertilizers ready for the next planting season. I have dedicated my time and energy ready for planting on time.

The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is that I do farming on time. I depend on small casual jobs in the village and getting money to buy seeds and fertilizers was a big challenge on my side. I used to prepare my farm late and this was affecting the production and leading to poor harvest. I had to buy food most of the time because of the poor harvest in every season. I was also not able to get quality seeds. Currently, I am able to prepare my farm on time, buy hybrid seeds and also fertilizers. I am in a position to hire workers to do cultivate my farm on time. Every season I get pamper harvest due to planting on time. My family has enough food to last until the next harvesting season. I sell the surplus food at the market to meet other additional needs of the family and also to pay school fees for my children in school. I have devoted much of my time to farming rather than doing casual jobs because this gives me a good income. I am so much happy because GiveDirectly has changed our standard of living.

I expect my life to change in the next six months in that I would have saved some money from the produce to pay school fees for my children in various schools and also be in a position to buy more hens and build another poultry house. This poultry project gives me income by selling eggs at the market.

My additional goal in life is to expand my poultry keeping project. I am currently keeping Kienyeji chicken and would also like to keep gross chicken. I have decided to expand this project because I have some experience in it. Also, it does not require most of my attention like other projects and one can also generate income on a daily basis through egg sales.

The biggest difference in my daily life is that my family now feeds well. This is as a result of a good harvest that I had recently and I am hopeful that it will last us till next harvesting season. For the past seasons, I was not keen in practicing timely cultivation and use of hybrid seeds and this usually led to poor yields. Due to this, we had to buy maize flour most of the time and it is costly. This resulted to my family having one or two meals a day and I am glad sincve the case is quite different this year. My family now gets a balanced diet and three meals a day courtesy of GiveDirectly.

In the next six months, my life will have changed in that I will have expanded my poultry project. I believe that I will have bought atleast 20 gross chicken and this will be a good start. Due to this, my income from this project will increase from the bar that it is at currently. I will use this money to start a savings plan for my family that I will use in case of an emergency. Also, I believe that my dairy farming will be doing well and I will be aiming at improving it by buying a zero grazing cow.

My life is currently different because inlike previously, I don't fail to pay school fees for my children and to provide them with all the materials they need when reporting back to school from holidays. After the August school vacation, I bought them school uniforms to replace the torn ones and even gave some money for upkeep. Additionally, they lived happily during the holiday because I gave them enough food and bought them some clothes.

My new goal is to buy a wire mesh to make my poultry a free-range system. I intend to buy about 10 pieces, one every month. This will boost mu production as the chicken will have more space to live healthier and happier. I will also get more room for more chicken.

The biggest difference in my daily life is the huge poultry project that I run. I use the money from GIveDirectly to buy feeds for the poultry and as a result, I collect about 30 eggs per day. Without these transfers, I wouldn't get enough to feed them. I am so glad that I have a really good and constant income.

I expect to have increased my source of income, I will have expanded my poultry farm. I will also have started my apiary by buying one beehive every two months since one is sold at KES 4500. I will, therefore, have another way of making money to make ends meet.
