How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Apparently, I do not have any new goal except the current one of ensuring that my children's education is guaranteed.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly scored highly in seeing to it that we are uplifted economically.Their is nothing went wrong which I can talk about
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
My most recent part of the transfer was spent on solar lantern whose value was KES 20000. In the past, we would utilize our usual tin lamp which used to inconvenient my family interms of emitting smoke all over our house, besides, my children were fond of complaining about their eyes itching them due to the tin lamp smoke. Nevertheless, things have changed for better since I brought on board the solar lantern, my children have been enjoying every bit of their studies considering that they no longer inhale the smoke nor develop itching eyes while using solar. Moreover, I started a new business of selling silver cyprinid and cabbages after letting go of the casual jobs I used to engage myself in that was tiresome. Additionally I paid hospital bills for my husband who had been taken ill. The remaining amount went in taking care of my family's food need. I am glad that GiveDirectly was so instrumental in seeing me develop.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
That day, I was working in a quarry and when we were given lunch break, I took my phone just to check of I had missed a call. I sawa an Mpesa notifications and so curious to open it because I was not expecting money from anyone and wow! I had received the transfer. I would say that was my happiest say in my life, I couldn't wait to get home to tell my kids about it.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
My business is picking up well and I'm happy that I'm nolonger struggling like before to provide for my children. My two sons who are in high school will be able to concentrate on their school and I believe the they will do well in their exams.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Before my husband became mentally unwell last year, we were helping each other raise our five children and we were in a good space in life. All went South when he became I'll and unproductive and I left to take all the family responsibilities. It hasn't been easy for me working in quarry and all I was looking forward to is starting a business which I believed would earn me a better. I spend KES 9000 to buy stock whereby I started selling green groceries, KES 40000 to redeem fees arrears for my two children who are in high school and KES 5000 to pay deposit for a solar panel.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means a stable source of income for my household because I intend to start a food vending kiosk in our nearby town. This will provide us with the daily needs because I am assured of high profit due to the availability of customers. To ensure this comes to reality, I intend to spend KES 25000 for the entire project. The remaining amount will support my children's education, also, I will use a portion of the transfers (KES 15000) to buy 5 goats that will act as my store of wealth.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Despite the many challenges that I am facing, I am still so positive about life because, over the past 6 months, my family has never been missing meals. This is something that I do not take for granted and hence, I consider this as what has brought joy to my life.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Being the sole breadwinner for my family is something that has challenged me a lot. Currently, my husband is mentally unstable and I am forced to assume his roles something that has led me to engage in strenuous activities like quarrying to get money for our upkeep. This work is very tiresome and I always complain of body pain. Hence, I consider this as the challenge that I am currently facing.
