Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was very happy and excited upon thinking of what i could do with the money. I am very happy together with my family as we now know that our status has improved because of how wisely we are spending the transfer. Everyone is also filled with joy knowing that Give Directly has reduced poverty within our household.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference for me and my family in oir daily lives has been being able to afford three meals per day. We were struggling everyday not knowing where we are going to get food but now having bought enough bags of maize and other necessities, everyone knows we are food secure for the next several months. We are very grateful to Give Directly for the transfers.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
The first and recent transfer that I received from Give Directly , I managed to buy mattress and new beddings for me and my children as we used to sleep on the floor with just mats and torn beddings. The other money went towards purchasing unifomrs for my school going kids as they had none as well as buying iron sheets and cement for a good house am planning to build after the second transfer.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
When I finally get the transfer, I will make sure I buy iron sheets and bags of cement to renovate my house. For a long time I have been putting up in a house that leaks during the rainy season. This is my time now that I stay in a better house that does not like. If there will be some change, it will be used to purchase a mattress and other beddings. In addition, I will save part of the transfer to buy pens and notebooks for our children in readiness for next term that starts on 04 January, 2021.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Iam happiest at noon as it is the time we usually have a meal. My husband goes around to look for piece works in the morning and when he earns something, he brings it home at noon for us to eat.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Basically, as a family, we do not have a reliable and stable source of cash to live a comfortable life and to sustain it. This is because my husband does not have any job and he cannot find capital to start any small scale business.
