I spent my third transfer on paying school fees for my grandson who is in college 15,000 KES. I am happy that my grandson is going to school with no school fees arrears.I bought a solar lamp for lighting 10,000 KES and fixed two steel windows on my house 6,000 KES. I bought a bag of maize for my family's consumption 4000 KES , school uniform for my three children 1,500 KES and school stationery 4,000 KES. I also bought durable household items.

My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfer in that I have enrolled by grandson back to school since he was a school dropout at a high school level for one year and he was doing a casual job at my neighbor's farm to save money for furthering his education but the pay was insufficient .I bought a solar lamp for lighting hence I no longer incur frequent expenses of buying paraffin.

In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well by giving money directly without involving middlemen such as chiefs to the poorest households in my community.However GiveDirectly did not do well on their hotline call center it was difficulty to get an agent to assist someone who was in need of assistance.

I spent 25000 KES of my second transfer to buy two cows that i used to pay dowry for my sons widow,i paid 11500 KES school fees for my grandson who dropped out of school,i bought bedding worth 3500 KES,I bought one sack of corn at 3600 KES,i invested the remaining amount of money in my chicken business.

...Eeeehh the biggest difference in my life is that my grandson who dropped out out of school for lack of fees is now in class,my sons widow dowry has been paid,and my business is doing well. I am able to feed my family.

I rented a piece of land , bought seeds and fertilizer with 5000 KES, paid school fees of 3000 KES and maize with 2000 KES.

I am planning to pay dowry for my daughter in-law and spend the rest on paying school fees.
