How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The biggest difference in my daily life since I received my transfer is evident, I am happy and contented that I was able to buy a dairy cow that would produce milk for my daily use in this old age, I no longer worry about buying milk from my neighbours which is so expensive especially in a dry season, In addition to that I bought 2 bags of maize, I now have enough foodstuff in the house, I no longer worry on what to eat hence I am settled and satisfied more so grateful for the support that positively impacted my life.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does it work perfectly, they helped the needy, people's lives were transformed positively, we all praise and admire their work, I don't see anything that is not done well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
At the moment am too old to work or do any casual jobs for me to be able to earn a living, I was a farmer before, the cost of living has risen to a higher level in that everything now is about money, I was relieved when I received my transfer because I bought a cow worth 300 dollars, I also bought 2 bags of maize worth 60 dollars, I then saved the rest of the transfer for our daily use.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
On receiving the transfer, I was really happy that the hope I had been keeping was finally coming true. I was really grateful and so to every other member of my household after confirming that we had received the first amount as was promised. We celebrated the good news and ensured that we were stuck on the plans we had initially put in place.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the newly completed construction in our household after the first transfer. This has enabled us to make adjustments as the old house that we used to depend on as the main house is currently our kitchen as the new one has served all the purposes of the old one.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
When I first heard of the great work GiveDirectly was doing in villages, I was so excited to know more about the aid. On talking to the friends and relatives in other villages and seeing the great work they had invested the money in, I first thought they had taken a loan from the organization. I could not understand it well but kept hoping that I will one day get a chance to get one-on-one contact with the field officers who had been visiting villages. When our time came, I was so keen to get every bit of information as I had plenty of ideas to invest in. Living in an old house, and buying milk from the neighborhood every day came top of my list as the "amust -addressed problems" On receiving the transfer, I spent 23000KES on buying a cow, and the remaining 30000KES on constructing a new house. These two have drastically changed our household outlook and I am hopeful that my sources of income will open up.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money will mark the end of my usual tiresome task of looking after my cattle. Since my age has significantly advanced, I will utilize the money on buying barbed wires and fencing my farm. As such, I will be having an easier time when looking after my herd of cows.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when I am taking some rest after a tiresome day of looking after my cattle. This is the moment that my body would restore energy in readiness of the following day's similar task.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in life is taking care of my cattle and my grandchildren. Two of my daughters are unmarried and they left their two children under my care as they go look for food and other needs. Since our land is not fenced, and I have no funds for hiring a helper, I usually run up and down while looking after my relatively few cattle.
