What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
During the time that I received the transfers from GiveDirectly, I was gravely ill I even feared I was not going to make it because I had money to even seek medical attention. Fortunately it was as though God himself heard me, and soon after I received the funds and immediately went to hospital. The doctors saw my condition was dire so they ended up admitting me and putting me on drip since I was heavily dehydrated. I ended paying KES 1,500 for the treatment I received which honestly speaking saved my life. On my way to the hospital I used KES 1,000 as transportation fee and was left with KES 500. Out of that I used KES 300 and helped in paying tuition fee for my son while I used what was left to buy milk and food while I was at the hospital.

In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I would say give directly has done so much good for me. I was able to afford my child's school requirements including uniform as a result of this transfer. I was also bale to buy food for my family which is a wonderful thing for me as my business of farming had been really affected by the drought.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
My son had recently cleared class 8 and I was hoping for him to join a training college to gain a skill that would assist him. When I recieved my first transfer, 1500 shillings went into shopping for items for school which included hygiene products as well as school uniform. I was also able to direct my second transfer into sorting out transport for myslef and him on the teachers conference that we had at their school and also to bring him back home which totalled upto 900 shillings. I have another child in college too who was still in school during the December period and I was able to send him some 500 shillings for upkeep. I was also able to buy chicken for my small farm which cost me 250 shillings each. I was able to also buy food using both transfers, with the first transfer I bought maize flour as well as sugar for tea. The second transfer was used to purchase afew things to use for Christmas. We bought 4 packets of wheat flour as well as oil. I saved 200 shillings for any emergencies that arose.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was in my compound weaving brooms for sale. I heard my phone ringing and I checked it out. I found out that I had received cash from GiveDirectly. When I received the text I was very happy. I knew right away that the cash was going to help me so much.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The money has made a big difference in my life. I now can say that I have poultry that I can say that own. I am going to take care of this duck and even through selling some of them, I will be able to buy other livestock such as a goat or even a cow. The money has enabled me to visualize a big project that I have always wanted to have.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Thank you for sending me the money. I received KSH 1200. Upon receiving I decided to buy a duck worth KSH 800. I have always liked to have poultry of my own. Now as we speak the duck is already laying eggs. I am very sure some few days to come It will have several ducklings and this will increase the number. Once the ducklings I can sell them at the market at a good price and earn from that. I can also slaughter one during ceremonies and eat with my family. So I am grateful that I was able to fulfill something that I had wanted to do for a very long time. I also spent the remaining KSH 400 buying food for my family.
