How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Now I have two sources of income which is through the sale of eggs and through motorcycle taxi which I operate. Before I used to depend on only one source which wasn't reliable sometimes when the business wasn't good. With the motorcycle which I manage to acquire after I received the transfer has enabled me to get enough money to cater to my family needs and to save. Thanks to GiveDirectly for making this possible for me.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
To me, GiveDirectly is a life-changing organization with the intention of changing peoples lives. This has been seen in my village where most people weren't able to take their children to school but now all school-going children are in school since parents now can afford to pay their school fees. This wouldn't be possible without GiveDirectly.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
The second transfer which I received from GD, I spent part of it to buy some clothes for myself since I had not good clothes at all. I spent part of it to add my stock for my eggs business. Since or area is muddy during the raining season, I bought some gumboots. I spent part of the remaining amount to support my brother who is living in another village which had not benefited from this project. The remaining amount I spent on paying a debt and on buying utensils.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am very excited at the prospect of receiving this cash transfer. I am planning to use this cash in building a house for myself and expanding my egg business. I am also intending to expand my bee keeping by increasing the number of beehives. Thank you very much GD.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning when I wake up feeling fine, energized and ready to undertake my daily chores.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardships have been poverty and poor health. In 1996, I contracted asthma and due to my inability to meet the medical expenses, my health deteroriated drastically up to a point where I had to try natural herbs to try and see an improvement. Luckily after a while I got better. Several years later, I decided to be independent (leave my parents' home) but I was living in such extreme poverty that I could go days without something to eat and life was unbearable. Complications also arose in my intestines in the year 2016 and I required an urgent operation. Luckily I got loan from someone to clear my bill, but up to now I haven't been able to pay him. These for me are the biggest hardships I have experienced.
