How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now own livestock. I managed to buy two sheep and young dairy cows since I have always admired to have such in my homesteads unfortunately the meager income from doing casual jobs around the village made the dream not attainable . I feel good and appreciated because finally, I got the chance to have livestock like the rest of the village members .
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion , GiveDirectly assisted majority of the less unfortunate which was good of the organization . For those who benefited got an opportunity of acquiring whatever they lacked such as purchasing livestock and building house . I do not see what GiveDirectly did wrong.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent 40000 KES of my second transfer to buy two young she - cows and two sheep for investment purposes . When they would have grown and matured , I believe they shall reproduce and for the dairy cows, I will be able to get milk for my family's consumption and sell the surplus to earn extra income then use the money to pay for my children's education. The remaining amount I bought two sack of maize and clothes for my children as well .

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have bought a heifer. I buy milk from my neighbors and its very costly for me. I depend on the casual jobs in the village to earn an income to meet the basic need of my family. At times when there are no causal jobs it very hard for me to get the money. I do also pay school fees for my children through these manual jobs. Saving money to buy a cow was not easy because of the recurrent expenditure. When I received the money I felt so happy because this was the only chance for me to buy a cow. Currently, I have bought a heifer and this has given me hope. When it reproduces I will be in a position to get enough milk for my family and cut the cost of buying milk. I will also be in a position to sell the surplus to earn an income to pay school fees for my children and even meet other basic needs of the family. I am so much grateful for the support because it has changed my living standard.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the money I felt so happy because I have never received such an amount of money before. I remember it was very early in the morning around 4 am when I heard a message tone from my phone. When I reached out to check, it was a message confirming that I have received a sum of 55000 Kes from GiveDirectly. I could not sleep anymore, I woke up and pray because this was much blessing into my household. I knew from that point that my life would change to be better. My children were very happy when I inform them of the good news.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have always wished to be a livestock farmer since I spend most of the time around my farm.Receiving this money will therefore help me fulfil that.I will buy one dairy which will enable me to get milk for consumption and for sale.I will also buy sheep which I believe will multiply fast hence serve as a good source of income.
What is the happiest part of your day?
After having breakfast I go to the forest to fetch firewood for sale.I then come back home at around 10 pm to feed the cattle. In the afternoon I go to the farm till 4pm.The happiest part of my day is in the evening when it is time to relax after a tiresome day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is raising up my two children as a single mother.I have no one to support me in meeting their basic needs or even companionship;someone who can encourage me in times of difficulty.I depend on casual labour to make ends meet, which earns me very little.
