How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Chris, before GD came, I planned to build a house but could not be realized due to lock of funding. My entire life is just farming and the products sales could not start a house. I was enrolled as a recipient on the GD program and received my first and second transfers. With the first and second transfers, I can now start to build a house of my own and will be called a house owner.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Firstly, I want to take this time to say a very big thanks to Give Directly for services rendered us during the entire enrollment process were very transparent.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I was able to buy three (3) bundles of zinc and paid people to cut the Sticks for the building. I was also able to buy food for the children. Thanks to the entire Give Directly family for the transfers that will enable me to build my own house.

I been living in hardship for a very long time The moment I received my money from Give Directly I was so happy. I was happy because I have been living in thatch house for so long and my dream has been to build a better house. During raining season my family suffer from cold due to leakage making us to have uncomfortable sleep. My dream has been to build a better house that will keep my family warm and safe during the wet season. GiveDirectly financial help has enabled me to start my building project. My dream of living in a better shelter will become a reality.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
My life has improved greatly since I started receiving transfer fund from GiveDirectly. Before, My living condition was so bad. My house was in a very deplorable condition and I could not afford to build a better house because I could not afford the cost of buying roofing sheets and paying people to do the construction work. During wet season, My family and I go through a very difficult condition due to leakage, Our house gets wet when ever rain starts to fall. Now that I have received payment from Give Directly I will build a better house that will keep my family safe during wet season. From my first payment I was able to purchase a bundle of roofing sheets to start the construction process. Also I used portion of my transfer to paid my children school fees. I am so thankful to Give Directly for helping me with financial assistance. My dream of living in a better shelter will be achieved.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I want to change my house to a zinc house so I will use my transfer to buy zinc to construct myself a decent zinc house. Because the house is made of leaves, I have to go in the bush often to repair it when there is a leakage, something I am very tired of doing because it affect time and energy.
What is the happiest part of your day?
As a young man leaving my wife in the town and coming back in the evening to see my spouse and our kid is the most happier time in my life. I leave them in the morning hours to go on the farm among wildlife which is dangerous so returning safely in the evening is my happier time.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My main challenge now is this house. I am worried when ever I see the weather change. I am like God please help stop this rain from coming down because we will not sleep well as the result of the leakage from to roof of this house.
