How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
O
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has brought hope to the most poor family where hope has been lost. I believe that everyone was given equal opportunity to spend the money based on the priorities. I have witnessed the great economic change and I believe that the impact of the program as per the economic improvement is concerned will be a permanent one in our community. The organization should monitor and evaluate how the money has been used and it's economic impact in people life, than giving freedom on people's expenditure. It should conduct some financial literature on proper planning, project selection and sustainability of the projects.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the second transfer on college fees. I have a son who has joined Technical Training Institute, and I managed to pay the whole course fees. Following the economic demand in my household, I could not afford paying fees at Higher learning Institution and therefore opted for Tertiary college that could be affordable and convenient to me. People started to gossip that the child had passed exams and just idling at home. Thank God for GiveDirectly for it's support. I believe that my son would be in position of competing with others in job market.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my life is that I can comfortably invite friends to my house since I have entertainment and good seats where we can sit unlike before where I used to be ashamed of the condition of my house. I would always avoid any visitation to avoid shame.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt very happy because I have been admiring my neighbours' items such television which I did not have and seats since I did not have good ones in my house. Getting this transfer meant I was finally going to have my own.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my transfer on buying television and sub-hoofer which will in entertainment so that my children cannot go to my neighbours house for the same and the rest I used in boosting my fish selling business so that I could increase my income to help meet my financial demands.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will be able to expand my business of selling fish and also enable my husband to start a business of selling cattle. The remaining amount will be spent on renovating our house as I will buy materials like cement and sand.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning when I go to the local market at Awasi to sell fish. This makes me happy because I am able to provide food for my six children through the business.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face in my life is that my income is unstable hence paying school fees for our children is a big challenge and at times they are sent home due to lack of fees.
