How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than how it would have been had I never received the transfer because I no longer struggle to meet our daily needs like before. This is because our daily expenditure has reduced as we do not buy milk anymore. Also, my spouse nowadays support me in buying our daily needs by using the income from milk sales. Due to this, I have seen an improvement in my health as I no longer strain doing some odd jobs around the village and I do not have stress anymore.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well by changing the lives of people through cash transfers and I do not see anything that they do not do well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
When I received my transfers, I spent KES 40000 to purchase a dairy cow and two goats. We settled on this since buying milk had been our routine. Due to this, we were at times forced to take tea without milk whenever we did not have money. I am glad that the dairy cow has calved and my spouse nowadays earn earn an average of KES 80 a day. With this money, she is able to buy some basic needs for our family. Also, I spent around KES 8000 to build a poultry house. We decided on this so that it will improve sanitation in our kitchen where it used to double as a sleeping place for my pouktry. On the remaining amount, I bought some food to last my family for some time.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I received my transfers around six thirty in the morning while still asleep. On seeing the Mpesa notification SMS we were very excited until our young daughter immediately woke up .
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my life is owning a dairy cow which wouldn't be possible before and I had alot of stress. Having bought my own cow , I am certain that my daughter's future is secure. Right now, my day is occupied with alot of work because with the transfersI started a poultry project, crop and dairy farming which all require my attention. I am glad that there's is no more idling because I have a lot on my plate. I have also bought expensive clothes which couldn't afford before and my family can't be happier to GiveDirectly for this precious gift.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent 280USD on a dairy cow because I didn't have one before and used to sell farm produce in order to buy two liters a day for the past two years. I spent 70USD on two sacks of maize because my maize stock had been depleted. I spent 100USD on poultry farm building materials and 80USD on clothing for family because life was hard before and the clothes we had had become like a uniforms. I also spent 40 USD on kitchen utensils 60 USD on a bed and mattress. The bed I had before home made 10 years ago handed down from my elder brother and mattress was already worn out. I also spent some on maize and bean seeds because it's planting season and initially we used to plant locally produced maize seeds.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this moneyeans it will assist us to purchase a dairly cow. We have been depending on subsitence farming and due to bad weather conditions the yield has not been enough to purchase one. This diarly cow will reduce for us the burden of buying milk everyday.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Evening is my happiest part of the day. It is at this time because during the day we usually plough our farm and this requires alot of energy and evening is the time I rest.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Our biggest hardship we have faced in our life is the time we start to be independent because we had no money to sustaim our selves. In our area getting casual jobs is rare because nearly everyone here is also is economical unstable.
