My life is completely different because I now have some livestock in my homestead. I settled in keeping them because they reproduce faster and this gives hope that they will multiply within a short period. These are now the living assets that I will always depend on just in case of any emergency that may arise. If it were not for GD coming to my village I don't think if I would be owning them for now.

In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well by delivering some help in the form of money in my region. We were also given the opportunity to choose what we want to buy on our own.

I spent part of my second transfer on buying iron sheets and nails ana timber for completion of my house which I had initially started using the first transfer at KES 6000. I then bought some new school uniforms for my children in 4000 and paid school fees as well. The remaining amount of money, I bought enough foodstuffs for my family.

I have desired to own goats because these are one of the most valued assets that we who are not working on any job can have. In case of a financial problem, one can sell these animals at a good price and sort their financial issues. And because of this, I decided to spend KES 12000 to purchase six goats, which I am currently rearing in my homestead. I am expecting them to reproduce and increase in number and I am glad that at least I have got some assets to depend in case of any financial problem. To me owning these goats is the biggest difference in my daily life.

I received the transfer notification early in the morning and because I could not comprehend the contents, I called my helper who read the contents of the message to me and I confirmed that GiveDirectly had sent me the first transfer. I was filled with joy on hearing this good news.

I will be selling the offspring in order to raise more money to invest in other projects that can generate income. In addition, I also bought some building materials that include pieces of iron sheets, building poles, timber to facilitate the construction of a new house for my children to have a good shelter. They have been sheltering from my neighbours at night. I am happy that once the house is complete, they will no longer be seeking shelter elsewhere. I spent the remaining amount to purchase daily foodstuffs for my family as well as paying for some household items and other expenses.
