What did you spend your third transfer on?
I spent my third transfer to buy iron sheets, cement, timber which I have used to build a pit latrine. I bought household furniture which I had always longed for but could not buy, I bought tow sacks of maize for consumption. The remaining amount, I spent to buy clothes for my children.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
If I would not have received the transfer, I would not have paid school fees for my children, I would not have bought household furniture which I did not have but have always longed and also I would not have built the pit latrine and a kitchen.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well in sending us transfer which has uplifted the living standards of recipients in our community. I have not seen anything that GD did not do well.

I spent my second transfer on buying 14 pieces of iron sheets 10000 KES, bought round poles 3000 KES, bought 1 cow 15000 KES, bought 11/2 bags of maize 6000 KES, bought school uniforms 4000 KES, bought 1 chair 7000 KES and used balance on daily meals.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference i have seen in my life is that i nolonger have to do casual work to feed my children being a widow but now i have comfort of a good house.

What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer on cultivating my farms so that I can increase my harvest . I also spent part of the transfer on buying food to feed my family.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was very happy when I received my transfer as I was a sure of receiving 110000 KES.

What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I plan to expand my house with the transfers since it is currently small with only a single bedroom to share with my kids. I also plan to buy a cow as a way of keeping the money for use in future emergency.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
My proudest achievement is that I was able to build a house with proceeds from my subsistent sugarcane farming.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship is finding capital to start a business since I wish to quit casual jobs which I feel tired of.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happy all the time because I am alone without a spouse and so I decide issues by myself with nobody bothering me.
