How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different in that, I am sleeping in an iron roofed house which I built using these transfers. This has truly made me very happy. I wouldn't have built this house had I not received these transfers because of my old age and my daughters who would have built for me have all passed on.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done well to extend the financial assistance to me. GiveDirectly has only done good on my side.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to complete the construction of my iron roofed house. In addition, I purchased a cow, a goat, utensils, hoe, food and saved UGX 30,000 to spend later to buy food.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I feel constant happiness and relief for the fact that I have constructed a permanent iron roofed house. Though I am still using the small congested leaking grass thatched house, I firmly believe that when my second transfer comes through, I will do the finishing, fitting and move into my permanent house.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When I received my money, I felt so anxious and happy at that moment. This is because I knew that the problem of sleeping in a small congested leaking house had come to an end. I would be constructing a permanent spacious iron roofed house.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent most Ugx 1600000 my first transfer on buying building materials such as bricks, sand, cement, timber, iron sheets, water and paying labor that helped me to construct my house. I then used the balance Ugx 100000 to buy some building tools like a wheelbarrow and spade then food that I used to feed my family and the laborers.
