How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfers because I spent the transfers on building a spacious two-roomed house. In the past, I was living in a small grass thatched house that was very old thus I was always ashamed whenever I had visitors. Moreover, I have bought a blanket and other beddings3 unlike before when I was only using tattered clothes to cover myself at night. Lastly, I have acquired a new set of chairs and a new table through the transfers and my house is well furnished as compared to the past when I could only eat on the floor while sitting on the log that I had fixed in my small house.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well in changing people's lives positively by giving them transfers which are meant to support them meet their basic needs. Moreover, GiveDirectly does well in teaching its recipients how to secure their transfers from mobile phone related theft. I have not seen what GiveDirectly does not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer on paying school fees for my child who had been sent home for fee arrears. Seeing him going back to school with all the balance gave me hope that he would be able to learn comfortably thus excel in his academics and be successful in future. I also spent part of the transfer on buying other building materials I did acquire with my first transfer. I previously had a small house which was old and I could not repair it due to lack of funds. Lastly, I spent the remaining transfer on buying new chairs and a new table since I did not have any seat and I always took my meals while sitting on an old log I had fixed in my house.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am staying in a more decent and spacious house. I have no more worries like before that I will be rained on when it is raining. I used to be afraid because my house was almost collapsing on me and hence I could not sleep at night due to a lot of worries.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my transfre I was very happy.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my transfer on buying iron sheets, polls and nails that I used to build my new house because the one I was staying in was too old and weak it was almost collapsing. I also paid labour, the remaining amount I bought bedding because I did not have presentable ones.
