Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next few months, I would save part of my next transfers so that I would buy a heifer. I would like to have one so that with time when the animal shall mature and starts producing milk I will have an alternative source of income through the sale of milk.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months is the good harvest which I got after investing my transfers in farming. Before the transfers, I used to get a few sacks of maize every harvest because I used to plough the same using local seeds. This is the reason why I could not get a good harvest. When I started receiving these transfers, I decided to use the transfers in buying advanced farm inputs such as fertilizer and hybrid seeds which I have been using on my farm every planting season. Since then, I have experienced an improvement in my harvest from the ten to twenty sacks. This has ensured food security in our house and I do seel some to raise an income. I am motivated in farming because of the transfers.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I would like to make use of the opportunity and the transfers which I receive to better my life by carrying out an investment which will be important in my life. I plan to improve my farming by investing in both crop production and livestock rearing so that I would have diversification.

Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My additional goal in life is to improve my farming practices. Apart from using quality hybrid seeds and fertilizers, I am planning to always practice timely cultivation. Due to this, my produce will increase and I will be able to sell part of it to pay school fees for my children after setting aside some for our consumption. I am also aiming at utilizing my farm throughout the year so that I can always have a continuous supply of food to my family.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I am proud to own a dairy cow in my homestead courtesy of GiveDirectlyt. I struggle to bring in assets that I can take pride in and lean on in case of financial needs but this had been challenging due to limited resources. My income has been too small to cater for both household daily needs and investments. I am currently keeping a cow that recently calved thus I have milk for my family consumption and sales. This has greatly changed my life in that I have added assets and I have reduced my daily household expenditure. Also, my children's health has improved since they now get milk for consumption unlike before.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My life will have changed in the next six months in that my family will be feeding well. This will be a result of enough supply of food hance they will always enjoy three meals a day. Also, I will have cleared paying school fees for my children using my transfers and the income that I now get from milk sales. This will enable me to start investing in other income-generating activities.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different in that I am now able to meet most of my family's needs without having to work for long hours like I used to do before. I used to work for long hours each day as I struggled to make ends meet. Very often, I only got enough money to buy food for the family and sometimes it was barely enough to feed the family. Receiving these transfers have enabled me to relax when I feel tired and has also seen me attend to my small tea plantation at home. The tea plantation is slowly picking up and it will be of great help to me in the coming days since it will be a constant source of income. My main focus as at now is to expand the area under plantation and be able to have more income from it in future. I am looking forward to a day that I wont have to do any form of casual labour but rely fully on self employment.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My additional plans for the next four months is to add livestock in my farm. I am taking part in a merry go round and when I shall have my contributions next month then I will use the money to purchase additional livestock. The livestock that I am buying are not only important for milk production but shall be of great help in the days to come when I will be required to pay huge school fees. Having these assets will surely help me since I will be able to sell them and get money to pay school fees and in time.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now plant in time and with fertilizers. Planting in time has enabled me to have more farm produce which has enabled me to have enough food for the family while the surplus is sold to meet other family needs like paying school fees. Having shortage of food which was a common occurrence in the family is now a thing of the past. My family is generally a happier family than it was four months a go.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months I expect my life to change in that I will have additional livestock for the family and have more farm produce. I want to continue with the good farming practices that I have started and be able to make progress going forward. The good farming practices and livestock rearing shall be of great help to me as a parent in meeting all my responsibilities and raising a healthy family.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Clearing of school fees before a term begins is one of the many changes that I have made. During the last four months, I planted cabbage using the money I got from GiveDirectly.I then sought a contract to supply cabbages to the school where my child studies in. Its value was channeled to cover my child's school fees. It was able to pay all that was required for the first and the second term of this year. This means that GIveDirectly is paying my children's school fees through this empowerment. Additionally, I joined merry go around a group of 4 members that enabled me to buy sheep. Owning this livestock has given me hope of attaining some good financial stability.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
Additionally, I want to buy cabbage seed to plant on the piece of land on which I will be harvesting maize. I don't want my land to stand fallow. This intensive farming will earn me more to use in meeting my needs and improve my standard of living.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my life is that I am able to farm on time leading to good harvests. I manage to buy inputs, especially maize seeds, fertilizers and prepare the land timely. Recently I ploughed the land and bought maize that is now doing so well in its silking stage. This has boosted production as crops enjoy good weather due to good timing of rainfall patterns. I will be having plenty of food since this year I have different crops in different stages of growth. My family is food secure the entire year. This is something that I had always desired but now it has been made possible by GiveDirectly cash transfers. I am a high achiever this year.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My life will be different in the next six months. I will have stopped the tendency to work on peoples farms for cash. Lacking money or source of an income to provide for my family and this pushed me wandering from place to place to working. This could only come from doing menial jobs for very low wages.. since I started receiving the money, I get a lot of time to work on my farm. I pay attention to my cow and farm leading to higher production.
