What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am very happy to have received this money. I have been looking forward to receiving this money ever since I heard that our neighbouring village have received transfers from GiveDirectly. I will use this money to build a house because my house has a thatched roof which causes problems during rainy season. I want to have a good house with iron sheets so that I should not struggle during rainy season.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The things that make me happy is when I have managed to find the things that I need. For example, if I need to buy food and then I have earned some money and bought food that makes me happy. In the past six months I desired a bicycle which I have managed to buy. I will use this bicycle to carry good that I sell such as charcoal.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The main challenge that I face is that sometimes I do not make money when I have not managed to find piece work for the day. Sometimes we sleep on an empty stomach because I have not managed to earn money. When I have work I manage to make MK1000 a day which I use to buy food but the food is not enough.
