How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Now that my children can attend school with minimal disruptions I have gained respect from my neighbours. I never had anything valuable in my house and my children would lack fees whcih forced them to stay at home as I looked for money. We would stay hungry and sometimes go to bed hungry due to lack of money to buy food
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal is to buy a goat for the purpose of rearing and having an investment in kind. This will help me in the future when I am in dire need of money I can easily sell.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my life preceding the current transfer is paying school fees for my son. Previously, my children would be sent from school due to accumulated fees arrears. This resulted in a drop in their grades which was quite frustrating and demeaning.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect to have plastered my house in the next six months. It is currently made of mud which makes it really dusty and difficult to clean. This has been the major cause of the flue my children are having.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving payments from GiveDirectly is that, I have bought a solar lantern and my children can study for a long hours unlike before where they could sleep when the parrafin got finished even before comliting their assignments and purchasing parafin was expensive too.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change in the next six months is that, I will be in a position to pay my child's school fees easily and also I will have renovated my house to look decent.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is currently differerent from how it would have been if I never received the transfer in that, I have managed to pay school fees with ease since previously I could struggle paying my son's fees by doing casual jobs or use profits from my small business.
Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
My new goals are; cementing my house and building a kitchen where my children can spend the night since currently they sleep in my son house but I feel that the age difference matters some of them should sleep in a different place.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I currently face is lack of enough money to pay school fees for my son who is in secondary school. If I am unable to clear his fees then he might have to defer his studies.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is around midday when I am selling my wares in the market. The atmosphere is usually very lively as buyers and sellers interact and this usually makes me very happy.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I am planning to buy cement, sand, timber, nails and iron roofing sheets which I will use to expand my house. We are a large family and our current house cannot accommodate us comfortably.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
My proudest achievement is having been able to educate my son who is in secondary school. I did this by diligently saving profits from my small business and right now he is about to finish his secondary education.
