How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different from how it would have been had I not received the transfer because I have been able to expand my dairy farming. Due to this, the income from this project has increased. I will be saving this money and use it to pay for their education.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well by giving all of us financial aid without any discrimination.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent part of my second transfer to buy a piece of land in our neighboring village. We settled on this as a family since the land we are currently living in is small for one to carry out some farming practices. Also, I spent some amount to buy some clothes, food and other household necessities. Due to this, everyone in my household dresses well and have three meals a day unlike before when we could have one or two meals a day.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have bought three heifers. I do casual jobs in the village and my wages are not enough to cater fully for our basic needs in the family thus saving or acquiring more assets can't easily happen. Even though I still incur the high cost of daily expenditure on milk, I am so happy and optimistic that this is soon coming to an end. I have hope that when the heifer reproduced I will be in a position to cut the cost of buying milk. I will also be selling the surplus milk to earn an income to pay school fees for my children and to meet other family needs. I expect offspring too that will be my added asset and security for any financial needs arising in my family. I have devoted half of my time on my farm and reduce casual jobs. I am so much thankful for the support we currently have an asset to take pride in as a family that wouldn't have been if it was not for GiveDirectly.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I had a goal of buying a heifer for long since I could not afford a dairy cow. I had been waiting for GiveDirectly's promise ever since I was enrolled to fulfill my goal. On that day very early in the morning, I heard an incoming message on my phone. I checked it and happiness filled my heart immediately when I saw it was from GiveDirectly confirming that I had received money. I knew I would be able to buy the heifer as I had wished to before. I told my spouse and children about the good news and they were so happy too.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer to buy three heifers, I used to buy milk and it was so costly for me, Buying heifer will enable me to get milk when they have reproduced and the rest of the money I used it to buy food for the family.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means i will be able to buy a piece of land that will enable me rear livestock in it since my 0.5 Acre piece of land cant sustain livestock keeping. I will then use the remaining part of my transfer to buy sheep and goats for a start which will enable me to buy a dairy cow upon selling the goats and sheep when they multiply.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My usual day entails leaving home as early as 7.30am to go look for any casual jobs that will enable me earn a living by the end of the day. Evening is the happiest part of my day when back home from work to rest and reunite with my wife children
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Being a casual worker, i work in peoples homes in order to earn a living to enable me provide for my family. However, its not usually a guarantee for me to get any job daily hence as the breadwinner of my family, this worries me. Unreliable source of income is therefore the biggest hardship i have faced
