How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has been transformed from a state of nothingness to a state worth living. In the past, I had no household property such as livestock. My household was empty and depressed especially when my children fell sick. I had to search for casual work so as to earn money to clear medical bills. It was so stressful then.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well to fulfil its promise through sending the cash transfers just as they promised.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I bought livestock worth UGX 1282000 and household items. I also spent part of the cash transfer on medical bills. The remaining cash transfer is being spent on food.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My life has improved because with this cash transfer, I acquired a bicycle which has eased my movement when collecting water from the borehole and also taking children to hospital. In addition, I also own a cow for produce milk. I plan to sell the milk so that I can be able to provide basic needs for my family like food. Before this transfer, I never owned a cow and I walked for long distances.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received money, I felt very happy because I was sure of buying a cow and bicycle for transportation.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I bought a cow worth UGX 680,000, bought clothes/ household goods( mattress, utensil, suit case and bed sheet) worth UGX 199,000, bought a bicycle worth UGX 220,000, treatment worth UGX 60,000, bought food ( cassava flour) worth UGX 40,000, paid debts worth UGX 250,000 and bought solar and battery worth UGX 251,000.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to buy a piece of land and oxen that will help in farming. This will be an opportunity for me to make things better for my household.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the evening when I am with my children especially after they have returned from school. We tell stories.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is inadequacy of farm land acompaned by lack of oxen. The piece of land that I have is too small to support the need. In my situation, I can not cultivate as would wish to because of limitations of space. This in most cases has resulted into low harvest and definately food shortage. Currently, I don't have food. What I do is casual labour atleast to provide food for children.
