Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was happy and very greatful when this message found me. I was in my garden harvesting groundnuts and i quickly left all this to verify with others that the money had indeed been sent.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
My house has now been finished properly. It will make me proud to have a well built and completed house. I am just thankful for all the help.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have a house that i built in 2019 but was left unfinished because i did not have money to complete the project. When i recieved the money from GiveDirectly, i bought 14 bags of cement and sand as well as steel bars to plasters and floor my house as well fix my veranda. I spent some of the remaining money to buy a buvet and 2 bags of maize which was just topping up on my harvest.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
This money has brought hope to me and my husband. We are old now and opportunities to find income and finish our house are very few. This money will assist us to finish our house as well as revive the businesses we had but ended due to the pandemic. We used to have a tea room which was one of the best in the village. The other money can go towards buying extra fertilizer for our garden and other basic needs which are needed each day.
What is the happiest part of your day?
In a village like this, people love interacting either in the morning or at night especially these times when there is moon. My happiest part of the day however is the time I get to visit the market and interact with different people from other areas and come back to tell my family about it when we gather in the evening.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
All my children did not go very far with education and they are very poor. The little I find, I also assist some of them. Hence, the biggest hardship is finding extra income to support myself and the children too despite most of them having their own households.
