How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than how it would have been had I not received the transfer because I have been able to buy a water tank with a capacity if 23000 litres. I will be using this tank to harvest rain water for domestic use. This will enable us to save the time we would otherwise use in going to the river to fetch water.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well by giving out financial aid to people and I do not see anything that they do not do well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought a water tank worth KES 23000 using my recent transfer to use in harvesting rain water This tank will be so helpful to my family especially during the dry season when one has to walk for a longer distance looking for clean water for domestic use. Also, I spent KES 20000 to pay school fees for my three children who are in secondary school. We decided on this as a family so that they would not be sent back home. Using the remaining amount, I bought some food to last my family for some time and some decent clothes.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
We were taking lunch at 1pm when I heard my phone beep and upon checking, it was the GiveDirectly transfer and I was very excited and I called my husband to give him the good news. He was so excited as well and thanked GiveDirectly.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
We were able to pay off school fees for my children . What was meant for school fees will be directed to buying a piece of land where it is more fertile as compared to where we are staying right now. This way we will fully focus on Agribusiness as a source of income.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I paid school fees for the whole term for my three children and I want to cement the floor of my current house since it is a mud floor.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I will use this money to pay school fees and to build a house. If not for school fees, I should have built a house already. School fees has hindered me from starting a house but when I get this money, I will use half to build a house and the other half for paying school fees for my three children who are in high school.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is at noon. This is the time when I take my lunch after coming from farm. At this time I feel relax because I have completed toiling at my farm.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I have faced is lack of school fees for my three children who are in high school. The first one is in the final year in high school the other one are in year three and one respectively.
