Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I can remember well that it was around 7 Am. I was checking my phone as usual. I got a message indicating that I have received some money from GiveDirectly. I could not believe my eyes it was a message confirming that I have received some amount from Givediectly. I felt so happy like never before. This was a huge blessing for me. I immediately informed everyone at home and there was a celebration. I stayed for a week before I went and withdraw the money. This was to give us time to plan well on how to spend it.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is purchasing a heifer. This is my dream come true. I have always wished to own a dairy cow. It was not possible because I did not have the money to buy it. I depend on small-scale farming and I am a motorcycle taxi operator. The money that I would get through this is so small. My spouse has a grocery business. The money that we get through these two activities was also for our children's basic household items and school fees. We had no extra money to save so we can buy a dairy cow. I always buy milk daily and this is so costly for me. Currently, I feel so happy because I have a dairy cow and I know I would get enough milk for the family and sell the surplus to earn an income. I will use the money that I would have used to buy milk on other basic household items. I am so grateful for the support.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spend KES 25,000 on purchasing a heifer. This is because I always buy milk from my neighbors and it's so costly for me. I will be in a position to get enough milk for the family when it reproduces in the next few months. I paid KES 2,000foe school fees for my two children in various primary schools. I used part of the money on plowing my farm and bought seeds. I am planning on planting soon. I will get a good harvest since I have done this at the right season. The rest of the money I spent on food and clothes for my family members. I am so grateful for the support because GiveDirectly has changed our living standards to be much better than before.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I had a plan to upgrade my dairy farming from a low milk producing cows to a modern setting. This will help me depend on it as an overall income generating business. My daughter is about to join highschool and I should have a stable income. I'm greatful that Give Directly money will help me go one step into achieving my dream.
What is the happiest part of your day?
We were happy in February when our cow calved. This means a lot to us because it is a source of income and milk for consumption to our family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
We lack enough income to expand our vegetables vending business. As at now we don't meet the market demand and therefore we get less profit. We will be joyful to receive the money so that we expand our business
