I was at the farm busy weeding when I heard my phone ringing in my pocket. I stopped to check what it was all about and I could not believe it when I saw that it was an SMS saying that I had received the transfer of KES 55000 from GiveDirectly. I was filled with so much joy on seeing this since I knew that the problems we had were going to reduce. I finished what I was doing and I went back home. Soon after my husband who had gone to the shops arrived. He had heard people saying that the transfers had been sent and he asked me if this was true. The transfer brought a very big difference in our lives as a family. We were able to clear the school fee balances for our three children who are in secondary school. With having cleared the school fee, I was able to save up some of the money from the vegetable vending business and I bought a few chickens. I was also able to save up some money in the self-help groups that I have joined. I plan to use the money that I will get from the merry-go-round contributions on buying a goat. This goat is going to be of great help to us in future since I can sell some of its offsprings and use the money on paying school fees for the children.
