What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
We are currently living in an area prone to flooding and my dream is to relocate my family to a safe place but I am struggling financially to meet my family basic needs I rely on casual jobs which earns me KES 300 per day which goes directly to food and other basic needs. We are a family of three and we are living in a single room which serves as both kitchen and living room which is not healthy for us.
What is the happiest part of your day?
It was in January 2024 when we welcomed our bundle of joy. My din Ivan Leshau has brought happiness to my life. His presence motivates me to go out and work for my family.
What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
Water shortage in our area is the biggest challenge that we face as farmers in our area. Iam lucky to be living approximately 600 meters from river perkerra which supplies most farms with water. With GiveDirectly's cash transfer, I will budget $500 to buy generator and plastic water pipes so that I will be able to pump water from the river and irrigate my farm. This will help me support my family without relying on casual jobs. I will also use $250 of my transfers to relocate my family to another piece of land which is on higher grounds. I will also use the remaining money to stock food and clothing for my family
