Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Before receiving this transfer, I had an out standing debt and a burden of renovating my house given the scarcity of grass in our community. When I got the money, I was able to settle the debt and recover my piece of land from the money lender. I also bought construction materials and I have started constructing an iron roofed that will be completed with the second transfer.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
Upon receiving money from GiveDirectly, I was over whelmed by joy because I knew it was going to help me settle the debt I had and start up with the construction work.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer pay off a debt at UGX 465,000, bought 4 trips of bricks, 12 pieces of iron sheets, 2 bags of cements, 2 trips of sand, paid builders and I gave my spouse UGX 50,000.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to build an iron roofed house, start up a business that can generate income. This will improve the standard of living in my household because service provision will have been made easier.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when my family has had atleast a meal. It gives me the confidence that I was able to provide.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is inadequacy of farm land. The only piece that is available for cultivation is too small to accommodate the plan. I have had to just give up on other things which in the end has always resulted into food shortage. I have not had the opportunity to buy more land because I don't have the resources to do so.
