How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is currently different than it would have been if I had never received the transfers. Before I never had any reliable source of income unlike at the moment where I am running on of the most promising business with a good profit margin. From it, I can feed my family, pay school fees for my children and also make a good saving at the end of every day.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion every work GiveDirectly did in our village was extremely well. Everybody has a good word to say about the great team which was working on the field during all the stages of enrollment. They were all good at giving us the pieces of advice, challenging us to ensure that we used the transfers in ways that will improve our living standards. On the other hand I have a feeling that the unmarried or separated women who are currently having their parents with their children would have been considered to received transfers since raising their children from buying foodstuff to their school fees is really hard.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the second transfer I received in opening up a new business that I am currently operating. It's been a great source of income for me since the demand for my products is high. It has enabled me to pay school fees for my children at ease and also all the household goods and bills are easy to sort due to the profit I am getting after-sales.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that now that I no longer buy milk like before because I bought a dairy cow and now I can save some amount to meet other basic needs for the family.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my money I felt so happy because I knew I would be able to buy building materials to build a better and spacious house and also buy food for the family.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spend my first transfer on buying a dairy cow, food, sofa set seats, building materials, utensils, and the remaining amount I bought a saloon machine ready to start the business.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I thank God for always being on my side. Receiving this money means that my dream of opening and operating my own salon will materialize. I have good skills and knowledge on matters pertaining to the salon business. Hence, this transfer will act as a motivator and power for running the business, and thus gaining more income for our family's use.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Being the only breadwinner for my family, I am super happy when I get food and money for our use. So, the happiest part of my day is at the afternoon when returning from my usual activities as a casual laborer with some food and/ or money for my family. This means that we shall have something to eat and buy other basic needs.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
In the year 2016, I lost my husband. As a young family, with our elderly son being 2 years old, I thought it was the end of our lives. I was extremely worried on how to bring up my kids as the only parent with limited skills and from a very humble background. But it is through God's mercies that I have significantly adjusted and coped with the situation. However, I feel that we could be leading better standards of living if my husband was still alive.
