How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different from how it would have been had I not received the transfer because I have been able to provide good medical attention for my son. Due to this, he has been of good health nowadays and is always jovial. He has also been able to do some of the activities that he was not able to before. This has made me happier seeing his health improve as days goes by and I hope that he will soon be normal like other children.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well by being fair in their enrollment process and I do not see anything that they did not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
When I received my second transfer, I spent some amount to pay hospital bill for my son who has been sick for some time. Also, I spent some amount to pay school fees for my children who had been sent back home. I used the remaining amount to buy a dairy cow. I believe that it be calving soon and my family will have enough milk for our consumption and for sale to earn an income.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My son has been sick for so long and I was not able to fully finance his medication. Due to this, he was never constant in his school attendance as his sickness would worsen at times. Seeing him recuperating well is the biggest difference in my life. This is because I am now sure that he will be able to continue with his education without any interference. Also, everyone in my family is at peace because we are now certain that we will not be getting any call from the school informing us that he has suddenly fallen ill.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was early in the morning when I realized that GiveDirectly had finally honored their promise by sending us some money. I was so thankful to GiveDirectly and God for leading GD to our village.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I have a son who has been sick for so long and I had not been able to give him the required medication due to lack of money. When I received my first transfer, he was my priority and for this reason, I used some money from my transfer to pay for his medication. I am glad since he has been discharged and is now doing well. Also, I bought a dairy cow so that it would relieve me of the cost of buying milk daily. This will also enable me to save the money I would otherwise use in buying milk and use it to buy other household needs. I used the remaining amount on foodstuffs and decent clothing for my family.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money will enable me to start rearing poultry for sale, a project i have always wished to initiate but capital has been a great challenge. I will use part of the money to buy timber, nails, iron sheets and wire mesh which i will use to construct a chicken coop, then buy chicks and their feeds. The remaining part of the transfer will be spent on paying third termschool fees for my children.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I usually spend my mornings and afternoons in people's farms doing casual jobs which are the most tiresome parts of my day. I am always happy in the evening whenever have completed all activities scheduled for the day since its the only time to get rest.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Its been 5 yrs since my son was diagnosed of epilepsy that affected him mentally. This is the biggest hardship i have faced since all the money i earn from selling milk as well as engaging in casual jobs such as weeding and tilling peoples farms end up in hospital and no money is left for savings. This worries me alot since i keep on wondering if i will ever establish bigger projects that could empower me financially.
