Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My next goal is to buy a water tank. This is going to be a plastic water tank that I will use to store rainwater. Water access in my village is difficult since I live on top of a rocky hill. The nearest water point is downhill which makes it very difficult.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months is the livestock that I have bought using part of the money I receive. Having livestock to tend to every day gives me joy and hope. Since my children are still young, I get a chance to invest in livestock that will help me in the near future when I will need to be paying school fees. By keeping livestock that will multiply, I will be establishing away of income to secure the future of their education.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my family to live better in the next six months since I will have bought a storage water tank. I will be collecting rainwater for domestic use. Availing water in my compound has always been the hardest part of my life. Living the highest part of a rocky hill means water is not accessible. To fetch water I have to hire someone to bring or have my wife traveling long distance down the hill and coming back with a water container up the hill is exhausting and also harmful to her health. I will have changed this situation when I get money from my merry go round group and by a water tank.

Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next three months, I will receive the savings which I usually make through a merry-go-round. I made this sacrifice with the intention of spending this collection on buying a water tank. We usually experience water shortage during the dry season as we do not have enough water storage container to store rainwater.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
In the last four months, I would save which I would remain with after saving part of the money through a merry-go-round. The money which I saved enabled me to acquire two sheep for rearing. I saw a great opportunity in rearing sheep since we have enough space to graze these animals. Having this livestock is a great achievement for me as I am assured that in the near future they will reproduce and increase in number. In case of a pressing financial need in future, I would sell some to cushion myself.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I believe that I will have bought the water tank and this will enable us to store water to sustain us throughout the dry season. We will no longer waste time to fetch water from a river miles away from our homestead.

Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
After completion of the first project of purchasing two sheep, I never stopped my participation in the merry-go-round. This is due to the additional goal I want to accomplish in the next four months. Our household is situated high in the hilly side and fetching water from the foot of the hills has really been hard. Together with my wife, we have made up our mind to purchase a large water tank once we receive our second turn in the merry-go-round. This will act as a reservoir since we'll redirect water from the roofs during rainy seasons into the tank. With this project, it will really help us a lot during dry seasons since we'll be having a reserve.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Over the last few months, I have been participating in a merry-go-round where we have been paying 1000 KES monthly with the other 20 members. This to me has been a saving plan since I wanted to have my money accumulated in order to buy some livestock. So far I have seen a lot of differences and the biggest of all in my daily life is the past four months is the purchase of two sheep. This has given me future hopes since I have a plan to sell them later so that I can buy a good breed of a cow.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months with the great plans we have, I am expectant that we will have accumulated enough money which we'll then add to the contribution from the group and purchase a water tank.

Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new additional goal is to save money in the merry go round group to enable me to buy a water tank for domestic use. We fetch water from a far place and it's really tiresome going there.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is that I have bought a heifer. I used to save some money in a merry go round group that we have started in our village and the savings has enabled me to buy a heifer which could not have been possible before. I do casual jobs in the village and the amount of money that I get cannot take care of both my basic needs as well as any development project. When I started receiving the money I developed a saving culture with the intention of buying a dairy cow. I used to spend most of my time in doing casual jobs but currently, I devote most of my time to my family and on my farm. Getting the money from GiveDirectly has completely changed my family's way of living. I'm so happy and grateful for the support.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change in the next six months in that I will have saved enough money in the group to enable me to buy another heifer. This will make me get enough milk in the future and reduce the cost that I currently incur in buying the milk.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life currently different from how it was four months ago. I am now more comfortable attending my children's parents day at school because I know I am well dressed. This has also boosted my self esteem as I can as well contribute some ideas during village meetings which I never used to do before.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My goal in the next four months is to buy a water tank for harvesting rain water. Water is a scarce commodity in our village, since we had not been receiving rains for the past four months. This has forced us for long distance looking for water for domestic use. Buying the water tank will relieve us from the tedious work. Besides, I will be having more clean and safe water from drinking.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is that I rear sheep of my own. I saved the monthly Give Directly transfers and later invested in sheep farming. I decided to rear the sheep because It reproduces faster and in the next future I will be having a number of them. I will be selling them as a source of income to provide for my family. I also some bought clothes and shoes for my family. Previously we used to wear torn rugs, I was feeling like this was a shame to me since our villages used to look down upon us. Nowadays we dress better than before and this us really boosted myself esteem.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change for the better in the next six months because I believe I will be having enough water from the tank. The time which I would have wasted fetching water can be spent to do other things such as farming.

The happiest part of my day is usually in evening, especially when I get enough food for my family. This is the time I get piece of mind from my children and wife. Most complaints come as a result of insufficient food. Seeing my family happy make me happy too.
