Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so much happy the moment I received money from GiveDirectly. It is through this transfer that my business idea which I had had for quite sometime was finally going to be realized.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
biggest difference is the improvement in my economic status and that of my family. Through this transfer, I have been able to buy two oxen that I intend to fatten and be able to sell them and make more profits. These assets will lead to a general rise in the living standards and improvement in the welfare of my family. I am looking forward to receiving the second transfer and at least be abl;e to buy more livestock as well as make other meaningful family investments.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent a better part of my first transfer to buy two oxen. I used the remaining amount to buy food and other basic household needs for the family. I chose to buy oxen since I stay next to a public forest where we are allowed to take our cattle for grazing day in day out. My plans are to fatten these oxen such that in the next six months or so I will be able to sell them and make profits that will improve my family's living standards. It is a business idea that I have always had but that which I have been unable to accomplish due to lack of finances.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have always desired to own a cow. This has not been forthcoming since I rely on casual jobs such as weeding other people's farms. Receiving this money is a dream come true for me since I will be able to not only buy a cow, but I will also be able to build a better house since I currently live in a small house.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is normally in the evening after I have finished doing casual labor the entire day. My happiness comes as a result of the 200 shillings that I get as payment for the work I have done. This money means I will have some food for supper before I sleep.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Lack of finances to provide for my own basic needs is my biggest hardship. I normally rely on casual labor, which are hard to find nowadays due to heavy rainfall in the past 3 months.
