Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Ever since I got the money, my life has got a big difference, I am now settled at home to take care of my livestock and other assets that I bought with the GiveDirectly transfer. I feel respected because of what I have. Previously, I could not settle at home because I was always on move trying to look for money for survival and it was not easy.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt good when I was told by my brother that the money had reached my phone. Being the first time to receive much money, I was happy and thanked GiveDirectly.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer for buying livestock (8 hens and 3 goats at UGX 444,000, a bicycle at UGX 150,000. I bought 2 bags of cement, a solar panel, a water drum, clothes, food and used the balance for paying labour to weed my crops.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to pay school fees for my children so that they can become better people in future. I wouldn't like them to suffer. I also intend to renovate my house and make it bigger so that it can accommodate all that I need in it for example chairs.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the evening when I am seated at the centre with friends. We drink and enjoy ourselves.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is lack of oxen to support in farming. I have some land that I can cultivate but there is no oxen to support. I don't have money that I can use to buy oxen so I clear my garden with a small hand hoe with which I can not clear a large portion. This is the reason I have some times faced the problem of food shortage in my home. I plant in small quantities.
