How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different now since I have an iron roofed house as compared to past when I used to live in a grass thatched house. I built a two-roomed house which can now accommodate all my family members .In the past, my children used to do their homework in the kitchen and at times I disturb them with the house chores, but now they can do their homework in the new house without any disturbance.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GD does well by giving unconditional cash transfers and I was able to pay school fees for my child who was joining form one.I do not see anything that Give Directly does not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spend my second transfer to pay school for my child who was joining form one, I was happy when I received the transfers since it came in time when my child was joining secondary school, my mind is at peace now because I paid the full school fees for the first term. I also used part of the transfer to buy maize since we had a poor harvest in the last season. My family now have enough food to last for the whole year.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Before GiveDirectly came to my village, I was always stressed up on how I will get money to pay for my child's school fees come this year. I am now a happy parent as I have been able to pay her school fees and I will be taking her to school tomorrow. This is so far the best thing that has happened to me in my life all thanks to GiveDirectly.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was around 6.00 am when I woke up. As my usual routine, I sang a hymn then prayed to ask God for His guidance throughout the day. After preparing breakfast for my family, I realized that I had some unread messages. Upon reading them, my heart was filled with happiness as one of the messages confirmed to me that I had received the money I had been waiting for from GiveDirectly. I could not hide my joy as I immediately shared the good news with my family. We also gathered together to thank God for His blessings upon my family on that particular day.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
When I received my first transfers, I decided to save 20000 KES so that I would use them in paying school fees for my child who was doing her Kenya Primary School Examinations as I was sure that she would pass well and would be able to join High school. I also used part of the remaining amount in building my house since the one I was living in was dilapidated as it was raining inside and it had become a big problem sleeping at night especially during rainy season. Since I had been buying maize flour on a daily basis which is quite expensive, I decided to buy one sack of maize so that it would last us for some time without buying them.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
