How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The greatest difference in my life is that I now have a better house. Were it not for GD, it would have taken me long beforeI get enough money to build a house. I do depend on casual jobs for a living which is hard to save my earnings as I do spend mostly on buying food.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
To me, I thank Give Directly for enabling me to build a better house.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
The second transfer which I received from GD, I put aside KES 30000 to spend next year on paying school fees for my two children who will be joining high school. I then spent KES 8000 to purchase maize for consumption as we had no harvest the previous year due to lack of rainfall. Again, I spent KES 6000 to buy clothes for all my family members as we had no good clothes to wear while attending occasions. I then spent KES 10000 to buy a young heifer for rearing.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the availability of basic needs that we now have because of the transfer from GiveDirectly . We used to lack food and live in pitiable conditions but now things are much better. We are well fed and will soon be in good a shelter. All I can say is 'May God bless GiveDirectly. '
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I received the funds when I was in a neighbor's house who had lost a member of their family. We were mourning but the funds gave us some joy and lightness of heart in as much as there was sad news. My family was also excited to learn that we had received the transfer.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent the first transfer that I received from GiveDirectly on building a house, buying clothes, food and school fee for our children. We had been suffering in a leaking house, my children used to catch cold and flu often due to the cold in the house. We currently have a brand new house that we will live in soon (doing a few finishes then we move in). We also lacked food and we needed funds for clothes and school fee. We had been struggling with casual work to get little funds here and there to meet the daily basic needs but I am grateful to God that our needs have been well met courtesy of GiveDirectly. Thank you for the funds.
