How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My new goal is to be able to pay school fees for my sisters who are still in school. I have one sister who is in Kenya Medical Training college and another one in high school and after I graduated from the University I resorted to helping my father with the payment of their school fees. When I received the transfer that I received from GiveDirectly, I used some of the money to pay school fees but I still have to pay their school fees before they can finally graduate and clear their studies. I plan to use money that I save from my internship to be able to do this.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well in everything and I was particularly impressed on how they gave empasies on the vulnerable people in the community. Seeing everyone make their own independent investments has been so encouraging and the economic status of the village has really been uplifted.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used almost all the money to pay school fees for my two sisters who are at secondary and medical college. I resorted to helping my father who has been struggling with the payment of school fees and I am happy that I was able to do this with the help of GiveDirectly funds.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When I woke up that day, I took my phone to see what time it was so that I would start getting ready to go to work. As my norm, I went through the unread messages and my heart was filled with joy on reading the Mpesa message that indicated that I had received a lump sum amount of money from Segovia technology. I immediately informed my siblings and they were equally happy. I did not go to work on that day since I decided to remain at home so that we would celebrate the good news as a family.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
GiveDirectly has transformed my life for the better since their entry into our village has brought nothing but good tidings to my life. I used to work at a local hotel where I used to get paid KES 200 a day and after receiving my first transfer, I got an internship letter from Kenya Revenue Authority. In addition, I was able to acquire a laptop using part of the transfer and I am planning to save my first salary so that I can use it in opening an academic writing account. Through this, I will be able to earn extra income daily and this will be the fruits of GDs work. With me having a laptop, I can do online writing anytime I feel like and I am grateful to them for it seems like they opened new opportunities for me.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I recently finished my university studies and I was working at a local hotel as a waitress and I sometimes helped in making meals. I used to earn KES 200 a day and this was not enough to cater to my personal needs as well as that of my two sisters whom I live with. Being a recent graduate, I always prayed to God to help me secure a job or even get money to use in acquiring a laptop so that I could start doing some online jobs. I am happy that with the coming of GiveDirectly to my village, my dreams have finally been fulfilled. This is because I was able to use KES 35000 from the transfer to acquire a new laptop, spent KES 10000 to pay fee arrears for my sister, and used the remaining KES 9000 on food and other household necessities

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I finished my Bachelor's degree in Entrepreneurship and graduated this year. I live with my 2 sisters for now while my father who separated from my mother lives in Bomet town. My homestead has 3 households and we all depend on one cow for milk. Receiving this money will aid my family to purchase a dairy cow that will cost us KES 40,000, the milk will be used for household use as well as sell and get income. Secondly I want to be able to purchase a laptop worth KES 30,000 that will help me in working online jobs from my home.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I was able to finally graduate 3 months ago and that's the biggest achievement for me this year. Studying was not easy since there were school fees challenges but I can happily call myself a certified entrepreneur and I'm ready to start looking for jobs.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
As a graduate I aspire to be employed and make a living for myself after attaining my degree. But that's not the case, the rise of unemployment for youths in Kenya is wanting. I'm a certified entrepreneur personal but for now I'm forced to work in a small hotel kitchen cleaning utensils and moping of floors. I'm paid KES 200 per day which is insufficient for me to buy food for the household everyday.
