How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Owning livestock in this area is a really big economical step one can make. For a long time, I had desired to buy cows and sheep but because of my little income, I couldn't own even one. After receiving these transfers, I started getting them one by one untill now when I have several of them. My flock of sheep is about ten heads and I have acquired two dairy cows already! My dream has been realized. In addition to this, I now have a nice house instead of the old grass thatched hut. I built an iron-roofed one. My home compound has also improved because of the fencing that I have been able to do here.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My next goal is to buy more goats. This is because I know that my transfers will stop soon. I will use the investment as a way to hold money and also to grow it. This is for the sake of paying school fees for my children come next year. I will be selling some of them from time to time as need to pay school fees arises.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is in food provision for my family. For the last four months, a part of the transfers has been utilized in buying food materials for the household. It would have been famine because of the maze crop failure that happened recently. We do not have any food in my granary this time meaning that we must purchase all that we consume. Were it not for GiveDirectly, I would have had a really rough time in menial jobs just to feed the family. We would have had to go hungry some of the times because income from the shop business that I have started is not yet stable, besides, it is very little.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to have changed in the next six months because I will have many goats and sheep. I will be having enough to sell for my children's future school fees payment. I will have a poultry project too. These investments will be generating income that will make my life better. I will be able to provide food much comfortably and to pay school fees for my children as required.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Currently, my life is different because I have acquired livestock. I used part of the money on sheep that have already multiplied. The flock is growing and soon I will be abe lt sell and buy a cow. the hope of becoming milk produce not only promises enough milk for ruse in my household but also a constant source of income. This hope of a better life is what is now driving me every day to live a happier life than before I invested in sheep.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal for the next four months is to buy sheep using every transfer in order to rear them. I will do this jointly with my wife in order to pull resources together and eventually sell the sheep and buy a cow.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The drought that just ended was life-threatening. All crops that we had on our farm dried up. In fact, water had become one of the commodities which we spent money on buying it on a daily basis. Being in this situation, the money I have been receiving over the last four months helped me to meet my household daily needs. The severity of the drought was reduced because I had the cash to buy food for the family unlike during previous drought seasons. I am happy to be benefiting from GiveDirectly.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect to have bought two cows. I will use part of the transfers and money from the sale of some of my sheep in order to purchase them. The heifers will eventually calf and be a good source of income from milk production. I will be able to pay school fees easily and provide for the family.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
We can now plan our activities and future plans well without having to worry about where we will get the funds. Having managed to buy six sheep for rearing, these have become a financial asset for us. Sheep reproduce at a faster rate as compared to cows and keeping them is less costly. We also live close to a forest which is good grazing ground for them. Later on, we plan to sell some and buy a cow and pay school fees with the extra.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
With the kind of environment we have in our locality, dairy cows tend to do well. We also have an existing milk cooling plant close to our village that is used to store milk to keep fresh before being transported to the factory for processing that was put up by the county government. Therefore, I am planning to buy a dairy cow for rearing. This will be an extra source of food and income for us.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am less stressful as compared to before. I used to worry so much on how I was going to take good care of my family in terms of food and school fees. I am happy now that Givedirectly is my extra hand and I am able to plan well and look after them well, I now have an extra income to supplement that of the maize crops that we plant.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I have always had a desire to start a transporting and logistics business. I expect that in the near future I will be able to buy a small pickup truck that will aid me in running the business. The income from this business will go along way in helping me take care of my family and pay school fees for my children.

Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
Initially I had listed several things that I was wishing that I would accomplish, but since the money we were promised to be receiving every month was not going to be enough for all of them I had to consider the possible few,but for now I have a new goal to buy my own plot and the only approach I have is to obtain a bank loan after finding a place to buy. This would be a great investment since real estate investment has always been the best
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
At the moment at least I can say that I have something saved in my account unlike before when I was always forced to sell some assets in order to settle some bills.

In six months time I am looking forward to investing in increasing my flock of sheep in my farm. this would in turn be of great profit after some time when i would b selling.
