As I near the completion of my current tailoring and dressmaking course, scheduled to conclude in December of this year, my sights are set on establishing my own tailoring business. Essential to this project is the acquisition of necessary equipment, notably a sewing machine which costs approximately $120. My plan is to first use the payout from my monthly savings to cover my fees for the year. Then, I'll start saving up for the sewing machine with subsequent payouts. Once I have the equipment, I'll use the transfers to help stabilize and grow the business until it becomes successful. It is my aspiration that by the conclusion of this program, I will have achieved financial stability, allowing me to transfer my child to a better-quality school, preferably a private institution offering enhanced educational opportunities.

Upon receiving these transfers, I made the decision to pursue my passion for tailoring and dressmaking by enrolling in college. I am currently in my final year, and these transfers have been instrumental in funding my education. That is why I allocate 100% of the transfers towards my college expenses including, tuition fees, acquiring essential learning materials, and meeting accommodation costs. To ensure I have enough funds to cover my fees, I save $10 of the transfers each month in a savings group. The remaining amount is used for other necessities, such as paying $15 towards my rent. Whatever money is left over is then put towards purchasing additional materials required for school.

I had not gotten any form of tertiary education. I had hoped to make some money from casual jobs to be able to achieve this but this was not possible. I thank God for Givedirectly because I was able to join school in January after starting to receive my transfers in September. I need $100 for school fees per term and I make this payments through my transfers. I hope to finish school next year December through making fee contributions from my transfers.

My house did not have a proper mattress and bed. I and my husband pooled our cash in September and bought a good bed and matteress at $45 and $3 respectively. I contributed my entire September transfer to this. I was also able t pay school fees and material for school for myself in tailoring school. I paid school fees of $20 to my school and bought materials for $10, I also paid rent for my house in school in August. at $20. I also paid school fees for my child at $4 in July, and $10 in August.

As I said my ambition has been to complete tailoring school, the school will take about two years with our first year focusing on women clothes and the second year on men's clothes. I hope to spend my transfers to help me finish school as well as purchase a sewing machine which I was informed costs about $110. I also would like to use my next transfers to buy a mattresses. The mattress we are currently using is worn out and since we got a bed we hope to get a mattress too.

I do not have an active source of income and my husband depends on casual construction jobs to make ends meet. I had always had a passion of tailoring which I hoped I would get skills to pursue but due to financial constrains I had put it on hold. However on being enrolled into the Givedirectly program I saw a glimmer of hope. I now am enrolled in a tailoring college where I pay $55 in a term. I use some of my transfers to offset my school fees balance. In March and April I spent $40 with $20 from each month on school fees. I was also able to contribute to food in the home by spending $10 in March and $9 in April for food. We contributed $5 each as a family to get to $20 so that our land could be dug for planting in April. In May my husband an I spent $25 each to buy a bed since we did not have a bed.

I am confident that with the help of the monthly stipend I receive, I will be able to cover all of my tuition costs and successfully complete the tailoring course. This is the biggest objective I want to accomplish this year. My son started school at the beginning of this month, and by finishing the course and launching my business, I will be able to pay his tuition and ensure that he can continue his education without any obstacles.

My entire $34 January transfer went toward my college tuition. My parents were unable to afford my school fees, so I was forced to stay home after completing my secondary education. It gave me sleepless nights to be stuck at home, unable to do anything to support my family. The meager earnings of my husband, a mechanic, are sufficient to meet the needs of the family's essentials. I enrolled in a tailoring college as soon as I was accepted into the program so that I could expand my skill set and eventually become financially stable. Two months have passed since I started college, and I can without a doubt say that the funds from the transfer have significantly aided me financially in achieving my goals. I'm thankful that I'll soon have acquired a unique skill that will allow me to find employment.

In my opinion GiveDirectly does very well by visiting all households within a village . We have for a longer time now been relying on our parents for support on most of the things because my husband is still a student and when GiveDirectly came in, we were so happy that we were finally going to have something of our own and something that we can use to make some meaningful investmwnts. I am happy that we have already bought some goats and are looking forward towards investing more.

I used part of my latest transfer together with that of my husband and we bought a goat. I used the amount that remained to buy food for my family. I am a mother of one and my husband is still a student. For most of our needs, we have had to rely on our parents and yet they struggle to make ends meet too. We were so happy to have been enrolled in this program and for the things that we have been able to do thus far. The goats that we bought shall go a long way in helping me support my husband through his education journey and shall also enable us to pay school fees for our child when the right time comes.

It was around 4 pm, we had not taken any meal since morning. At that time I was wondering where we could get money for our meal. That was when I received a confirmation message of the receipt of my first transfer. I was so excited and at that moment all the worries faded. Both my spouse and I do not have any source of income hence we rely on his mother who also does not earn much. The money meant much to our household.

The biggest difference in my daily life is the ease of purchasing foodstuffs for our family. It would not have been possible without the support from Give Directly. We all rely on my mother-in-law who does not earn enough money to sustain our needs. By the time we received our transfer, we could have a meal a day and at times we would go for the whole day without any meal. I am glad the money came to our rescue.

We had been struggling to survive on a meal per day and at times going the whole day without a meal. On that fateful day, we had not taken any meal since morning. I do not have any source of income while my spouse is currently in college and thus we depend on his mother. She takes care of a neighbor's cattle for KES 3000 monthly. The income she earns can not sustain us for the whole month thus the struggle to meet our household needs. When I received the first transfer, I spent the whole of it on 12 Kg of corn flour while my spouse used his share to purchase detergents and other foodstuffs for our household. I am thankful because the support has eased our ability to meet our household needs.
