How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from the way it was four months ago because I was able to start a business through the transfers I got from Give Directly. I now have two businesses which make life better compared to when I only depended on one source of income.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I recently ventured into a new business. I bought enough items although I don't feel the stock I have currently is enough to run the business. This forces me to restock the shop every two weeks which usually costs a lot in terms of transportation. I, therefore have an additional goal of saving the coming transfers so that I can add more stock to my business. This will help me avoid the constant trips I make every two weeks which will help me save the cost of transportation.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Previously I only depended on a grocery shop as a source of income. The profits I got from this business wasn't enough to cater for all my family's needs. I, therefore, used the previous transfers to start up a new business alongside the grocery shop. Since then my income has improved and I'm glad I'm now able to meet most of the family's needs.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I'm currently running two businesses and I'm hopeful that they will pick and generate more income. Thereafter I have the plans to add new products in the next six months. This will enable my clients to get a variety of commodities in one place which leads to an improved income.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from the way it would have been if I had not received the transfers. My income has improved and I have been able to improve my living standards. I was able to add new products to my business with previous transfers. This has attracted more customers because I now have a variety of products they can choose from. I don't think I would be able to start the business without the help from Give Directly and I thank them for coming up with the idea of giving unconditional cash transfers. It helps one to think freely and establish themselves without restrictions
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
It feels good to be independent and I'm happy I currently have a reliable source of income form my business. I used to depend on casual jobs that were low paying and tiresome. We would be forced to do more than one casual job in a day in order to meet the needs for that day. I am glad we will not have to look for manual jobs more often because we now have another alternative. For the next four months of my life, I have a new goal of expanding my business so that I can earn more and be able to sustain myself even after Give Directly have finished their program in this village.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
For the first time in my life, I was able to meet emergencies without asking anyone for money. This is because I used the previous transfer to start up utensils business and since then I have been able to save some money which I recently used when my mum was unwell. I plan to expand the utensils business by opening branches in different villages in this location. This will ensure we no longer depend on casual jobs in order to put food on the table. I must thank Give Directly for choosing me as one of their beneficiaries because they have helped me become independent. I feel so happy and proud of myself.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months of my life, I expect to have raised enough money to expand my business. Currently, I am already getting profits from the business that I recently started. I intend to continue saving the monthly in come I normally get from Give Directly and add to the profits I get from this business. I believe the total amount will be enough to open another branch in a different village. If all goes well I believe I will soon be a millionaire. I will be able to help my parents and siblings and our community at large.

The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months is that I managed to buy seats. I feel good when I see my own seats because I used to possess my father-in-law's which were outdated. I felt embarrassed when using them but I had no choice because the little that I could get from the odd jobs could be enough for food. This is among the goals which I had in life that I never thought could be accomplished.
