How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My future is much brighter and predictable. The cash transfers have empowered my family. With the motorcycle that I bought, I am assured of earning daily income. Previously, I had to depend entirely on casual labour which was stressful and unproductive. Currently, I am a relaxed person and my home is at peace.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well to send people direct cash transfers just as they promised. There is no wrong that GiveDirectly has done so far.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
The second cash transfer to purchase a motorcycle.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The big difference in my life is that I have acquired livestock, utensils, good clothes, a mattress, bed sheets with the GiveDirectly cash transfer. I would have not managed to buy them on my own.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the money, I became so happy because it was going to enable me buy what I did not have.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I used my first transfer for buying livestock ( a cow and 2 goats), food, household items (utensils, clothes, bed sheets and a mattress). Part of the money was spent on construction of a pit latrine and starting up a business of selling fish.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will straight a way buy oxen for ploughing. Right now we are using hand hoes for digging and we cannot dig large piece of land. With oxen, you can plough abig portion of the garden compared to using a hand hoe.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Luch time is my happiest part of the day. It's the time we share a meal as a family and chat after eating.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship I'm faced with is lack of income to feed the family. My husband used to ride a motorcycle where he could get money to support the family but the owner of the motocycle took back his bike.
