Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
Apart from the cash crop farming venture which has come to pass, we also have an additional goal to introduce livestock farming thou' on a small scale. Milk buying has been part of us for a long time and much more currently since I have young children who can not thrive well without milk in their meals. In the next four months, we are planning to purchase an ox for the start which we'll rear it for some time and later sell at a better price enough to purchase a good breed of cow. We are hopeful that all will go well in the Merry-go-round we have been funding since that is the only expected source of money at the moment.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Ever since I started receiving the transfers from GiveDirectly, I have been having a plan to venture into agriculture. My idea was to specifically start a cash crop farming since I had the idea of tea farming in mind. It has never been so easy starting the project since developing or buying the already established seedlings is so expensive. I started saving and in the last four months, I managed to buy and plant 800 tea seedlings which are now doing very well. Planting them has so far been the biggest difference in my life in the last four months since I have been sacrificing a lot to ensure that I save some amount every month towards buying the seedlings.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
Our expectations in the next six months are really many but based on our priorities as a household, we expect to have bought a heifer in the next six months and if we will be having a surplus amount, we will be leasing a bit of land so that we can put it under cultivation alongside the livestock project we are starting.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different in that we now have a small tea plantation that we are optimistic will help us a lot in the future. I also do not engage in a lot of casual labour like I used to do before when I could spend long hours in a day and end up very tired and with very little returns.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My additional plans for the next four months is to be able to continuously take part in a merry go round and finally be able to buy a dairy cow for the family. I will be able to sell the goats that I have and combine it with the proceeds from my merry go round to be able to buy the cow.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my life that has happened over the last four months is that we have been able to start a small tea plantation almost a quarter of an acre. This has been made possible by the monthly transfers that we receive from GiveDirectly. By next year we expect to have started picking the tea and realize the profits.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change in that I shall have bought a dairy cow for the family and bring and end to the endless buying of milk for the family. I also expect that we shall have finished paying the debts owed to us on a tea plantation and be able to start other meaningful family investments that will help us a lot in raising the living standards of our family.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Four months a go, I used to engage myself in more casual jobs just to make sure that we have enough money for the family to buy food and other basic necessities. This gave me very little time to attend to my own income generating activities such as farming at home. It also meant that I often had to overwork myself and at the end of the day I could not get enough food with some times having to sleep hungry. I now work less to earn a living and this has provided me with an opportunity and energy to attend to my own projects at home. I can now comfortably do farming at home, eat well and have a good time with family, something I could not do before. I feel more relaxed than I have ever been.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four months, we expect to have bought at least one dairy cow for the family. This will help us get a cheap source of protein from the milk produced and further increase our family's income sources through the milk sold.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Over the last four months, we have been able to bring our new house to its completion. For a long time, we had desired to have a new and more spacious house for the family considering that our family had grown. This had at some point seemed impossible to us due to little income that we got from casual labour that only gave us barely enough to feed the family and nothing to save for any projects or investments. After receiving the transfers, we have been able to come together and do the things that affects us all jointly. We have been able to build a new home while at the same time buy food with little difficulty.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect to be fully self employed. I am looking forward to be fully engaged in my farming activities such as doing horticultural farming and rearing my livestock for commercial purposes and for local consumption as well.
