How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I am still maintaining my initial goal of improving my baking business. Before receiving cash transfer from GiveDirectly, I sold dried fish as means of survival. I possess this baking skill which I learned from my mother and had the dream of putting it into practice. But I didn't had the money to start until GD reached our village, Gleeon. Now that I have received my last transfer, I bought more things to improve this existing business.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GD is doing well for us by giving cash I have never thought of receiving. It is like a dream come through. Through GiveDirectly cash transfer model the lives of my household is steadily improving and I am very grateful to GD for such an opportunity. However, interms of things done unwell I am actually not in the know of any.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have spent my last transfer on the purchase of flour bags, vegetable oil and butter to improve my existing baking business. I have four children but two live in Monrovia and two children are living with me here. Before receiving cash transfer from GiveDirectly, I found it difficult to provide meal for my children due to low profits earned from the dry fish business I was doing. Now GD has empowered me with cash that I have begun a business of my choice (baking business), which is improving my income daily.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My goal is to improve my baking business. I am a baker. I bake bread and cokies for sale. I have not been able to increase the side of this baking business because I am a single mother with four living children to care for. Providing meal everyday for my children and I is a serious challenge. Now that I have received this third transfer I will buy enough flour and baking utensils to expand my business.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done well by giving us money to fulfil our goal or things we are unable to do on our own. With the coming of GiveDirectly into this village, has help me enough to think of things I never imagine of doing. Receiveing direct cash transfer plus phone and Sim card from this organisation are something that I find well. However, I am unaware of GiveDirectly doing any wrong.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I will spend my most recent transfer on the buying of flour and baking utensils to expand my existing baking business. This is a business I have been doing for the past 5 years and I have been struggling to expand it in order to increase my income. I am a single mother with four living children to look after. Getting meal each day for my children is a serious challenge. This third transfer has brought true happiness and relief for me and my children. I am fully able to improve my baking business.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
As a single mother of two children with no other supports from anybody like father is a stressful situation. I was a teenager who started Small business at the age of 11-year in 2005. And this experience in business is what I have survived through out my difficult times . I have always wanted to own a good cash to establish a bigger business and as such , I will definitely use my unconditional cash transfer to improve my dried fish business.
What is the happiest part of your day?
With the help of my stepmother who received me with open arms to live and do business in Gleon, i am joyful each day I look in her face . Even though I am unable to see my biological parents again but, my stepmother is a blessing to me and I always feel released of missing my parents whenever she is around.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Interior life is difficult to live as an individual who parents are no more . In early 2020, I got pregnant with my second child in Monrovia and the care I should receive from the child father wasn't coming . Intact, he disowned the pregnancy and brought to me shame and disgrace . There was absolutely no means of getting food for myself and the other child that caused me to moved in Gleon by August 2020, where my step mother has been living making business. When I arrivled in the community, my mother opened a very small business for me and I have been managing it supporting my two children. To take care of the two children food and pay school fees yearly without father support with the limited resources from the small business is a challenge I am facing as of present.
