How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different now because I sleep on a good bed and in a confortable iron roofed house which I constructed with the transfers. Before, I was sleeping on a mat and in a hut with a leaky roof. I am grateful to GiveDirectly, may God continue using them to impact on lives of many more poor people.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well to sensitise us to be counsious of fraudsters who would take advantage of us, this kept every one in my community a lert. I am happy with how GiveDirectly works and I have nothing against them.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer for buying goats, a door, windows, 2 mattresses, a bed, utensils, clothes, shoes and food.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference so far is that I have a peace of mind compared to the past when I was stressed. The greatest impact is that I have constructed a two roomed house. This is my only joy and I owe it to GiveDirectly. am very grateful for the cash transfer.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I received a mobile money message at 22:00HRS. Part of the message read that I had received UGX 1730250. I lept up with joy and shouted on top of my voice because I had received an enormous amount of money that I had never received in my life.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I purchased bricks worth UGX 500000 and iron sheets worth UGX 400000 and timber worth UGX 200000 and nails worth 20000. I bought bedding, utensils worth UGX 35000. I paid the builders UGX 200000. The balance was spent on buying food.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Building an Iron roofed house has always been my wish but I do not have enough money to do so. The grass thatched house that I sleep in is small and it leeks when it rains. Receiving this money will enable me to build an Iron roofed house regardles of the size. I will also buy a cow with part of the money so that my family can have milk.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the evening when I know my tasks of the day were successfully done. This gives me the opportunity to plan for the next day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is lack of farm land. As a result, my household has always been in a poverty cycle because the small piece of land that I can afford to hire is usually not big enough to accommodate all that I would want to plant in order to meet the needs of my family.
