How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My house is very old. The roof is seriously leaking and the sticks are almost rotten. Hence, building a house and establishing a new business has become my newest objective. When I received my transfer, I bought two bundles of zinc and 6 gallons of gasoline to saw plank for my new house. These transfers has affected my life positively and I am so grateful for such opportunity.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has been doing quite well with the entire program. They have provided me the opportunity to improve my livelihood with their unconditional cash transfers. My life has changed completely. I will forever remain grateful to GD for their great financial assistance.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
All along, I had planned to build a house and also start a new business. Thus, as soon as I received my transfer, I purchased building materials ( zinc, nails and gas to saw plank) for the roof of my house that is under construction. The cost of the 2 bundles of zinc is $23,000LD. Furthermore, I bought 15 gallons of red oil to sell. This oil business will provide additional income for me to cater to my family's basic needs. GD transfers has continue to improve my livelihood. I am so pleased with this project.

My new goal after recieving this transfer is to complete the renovation works on my house. The walls of my house is still ok and only need plastering. Also, I am going to replace the thatch roof with zinc roof. I was so happy when I received this transfer. I pray that God showers his blessings upon all that providing this money.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well by locating the hard to reach communities.Walking by foot to this community just to have people lifted from poverty to another level of of improved life is something I have not seen since the day of birth. Moreover, GiveDirectly is unbias during the enrollment process. In my opinion, GiveDirectly fair in its workings and have nothing wrong with its process.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used portion of my recent transfer to pay a sawyer who is sawing the planks that will be used to reroof my house. I also used portion of my recent transfer to buy few bags of cement. The balance is in safe keeping for emergency purposes.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Before recieving this transfer, my goals have always been to work hard and look for money to send my children to school and to have my house covered with zinc. Now that I have this amount of money, my plan is to roof my house with zinc and send my children to school. Life has been difficult from the beginning but I thank God for GiveDirectly for coming into my community with this life changing opportunity.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well in taking people from mat to mattress, from thatch house to zinc house. Also, GiveDirectly does well in helping people to pay their children's school fees and pay hospital bills as well. I also think GiveDirectly is fighting corruption. This is the only organization I have seen the field workers not accepting anything from the community they work in. Everything about GiveDirectly is perfect in my opinion.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Like I said from the beginning, my plan is to have zinc over my house and have my children go to school again. I therefore with my recent transfer(s) bought one bundle of zinc, mattress, and paid my children's school fees. During the rainy season, this house roof no longer holds the rain water from falling in the bed rooms despite the patches I have made over the time. Thank God for the money given me by GiveDirectly.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Growing up as a young man I had to drop out of high school due to lack of financial support. I don't want that to happen to my children but right now they are not in school because I don't have the money to send them to school. I will used this money to send my children to school so that they should achieve quality and higher education and be a help to me when I grow old. I will also start a business and save the rest of the money for emergency.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Despite all of these difficult times, just hearing about such a great opportunity from GiveDirectly I feel very happy this morning and I will always feel happy every morning.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I was ten years old when I lost both of my parents, since then life has not been easy. I have to do hard labour job in other to provide food for my children. After my wife give birth to our last daughter she has been really sick but I don't have money to take her to the hospital, I wash her laying in pain on a daily basis. Seeing my children not being to go to school is really difficult for me but I don't have the money to send them to school, so I feel powerless.
