How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has greatly changed because through the use of my transfer, I was able to farm watermelon that I have now harvested and has given me more than Ugx 2000000. I am through my husband using this money to offer employment to the youth in my community. They help in planting, weeding and harvesting my watermelon. Before recieving this money, I depended on my husband's business of buying and selling oranges (which was not sufficient) to sustain our family.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly has done well by uplifing me from the low level that I was at to new level where I can now provide for my family. On the other hand, there is absolutely nothing bad that GiveDirectly has done.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer Ugx 1100000 to pay up fees for my children who are in boarding. Together with my husband, I used part of my transfer to buy watermelon seeds at Ugx 300000. I then used the balance to hire a tractor to help dig through the garden that I was going to put the watermelon.

The biggest difference in my daily life is that, I live each day with a peace of mind. Before; paying my children's fees made me stressed since I couldn't raise money on time. But with this transfer, I paid it on time and can raise the next term's fees by selling the water melon.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I saw the message of the money, it made me feel very happy. This transfer was going to help me pay my children's fees.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I have used my first transfer to pay school fees for my children and to plant two acres of water melon.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will own a grinding mill which we shall use in order to generate daily income. The income generated will support in aging school fees for he children as well as meet other daily needs like eating. Currently, my spouse is concentrating on a small scale business while I engage in farming but it is not sufficient enough to manage the family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is in the evening after eating super, I will be resting while sharing with my children and spouse about and challenges during the course of the day and while planning for tomorrow. That puts a smile on my face and makes me happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship is lack of lack of reliable source of income because we have three children in boarding school and all of them require a lot of money to keep them at school. As I speak today, one of my daughters had been sent back home for lack of school fees which is a set back in her studies and gives us the parents a lot of stress.
