How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has become good because we bought a motorbike that my husband rides for business and from it we are able to get money for meeting basic needs like food, soap, sugar, paying medical bills and many more. Before, we depended on casual labor for survival, we had no time to do our own farm work. Now that we have a source of money, all our concentration is in our farm. I thank GiveDirectly a lot.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well to visit households that get conflicts especially as a result of families failing to agree on how to spend the transfers. I have nothing to say in regards to what has not been done well.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my life is that there's reduced poverty in my household because I have a business that generates daily income. The money we make from our business caters for our well being in terms of sickness, feeding among others. In the past, life was very difficult because I did not have any income generating activity that could support my family therefore I solely depended on casual labour in order to get money.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was overwhelmed with joy and happiness when I received this transfer because this money could help transform my well being.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
We decided to spend our transfer on purchasing a motorcycle for a bodaboda business.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means acquiring cows that will be an investment for the future needs I my household. Currently, I engage in farming in order to ensure that my children are at school not forgetting meeting household needs.
In case of any balance, I will buy some farm land that will be used for growing crops that will feed the family as well as well some for meeting other household needs.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is after my children have eaten a meal. My household currently I struggling to look for what to feed on because what we had planted last year could not sustain us. We buy every day what we eat and once we have eaten, I am happy and we have to start planning for tomorrow.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship in my life is inadequate food for the household. Because of inadequate feeding, my children are mulnaourished and sickly which is taking a lot of hard earned cash from our household. My household often eats once a day which is not normal for the healthy growth of a child and the development of the child's brain which affects their performance at school.
