Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy the moment I received the money because I had gotten the chance to finally get what I had desired for so long especially livestock so that I can have bragging rights like most of our neighbors. I was so happy and grateful.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I was able to get the things I didn't have before. I was able to get livestock and settle my children's school fees arrears and keep them in school so as they can continue learning without any interruption or disruption. I am happier and more grateful now than I was before, all thanks to GiveDirectly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent most of my transfer which was KES 10000 on buying four goats because they are something that I had desired for so long, so that I could have bragging rights like most of our neighbors from around our village. Having livestock would not only give me bragging rights but also would be something that I will always be seeing rather than spending the money on something that will be gone or finished after some time. I also spent KES 5000 on my children's school fees because I wanted them to continue learning without any interruption or disruption. I believe in education and I know that with a good education, my children will be able to find employment and inturn I'll be able to count on them in the future to help me address the financial challenges I will be facing.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means a spacious house to my family. Currently I am sharing a small house with my family of 8. I am planning to spend my entire first transfer to construct a semi permanent two bedroom house which will be spacious enough to accommodate my family of 8. With my second transfer I will spend KES 30000 to buy 10 goats that will act as long term investment project to my household. I will use KES 5000 to clear school fees to my children in primary school so that they can study with easy hence better performance. The remaining amount will cater for other household needs like food.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Morning is the happiest part of my day waking up healthy with the rest of family, despite all life challenges.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Lack of sustainable source of income is the biggest hardship that I have ever faced in my life. The only source of livelihood is charcoal work. Considering it's earnings that is usually KES 500 per week, it is very hard to cater for all our household needs .We majorly use our earnings for food expenses for the family.
