My new goal is to build a shop. I want to build the shop because I live by the roadside. There are a lot of people living around and the shops are few. I hence see a business opportunity that will enable me to get more income.

GiveDirectly is doing well by constantly calling us to check on us. They called us before we got the transfers and they taught us how to safeguard our money. They have also been calling us after we got the transfers and this is good because it shows that they care. I do not see anything that they need to change in their way of work. I would like to urge them to keep up the good work.

I spent my entire recent transfer on buying a cow. I decided to buy a cow because I wanted to invest in something that is going to help me even in the future. After all, the transfers from GiveDirectly were only being sent twice. I had another cow and hence I decided to add another so that I could get more milk. The cow that I bought has calved and I have a plan to sell some of the milk and use the money in paying school fees for my two children. I was not able to buy the cow before because I did not have enough money. I am thus grateful to GiveDirectly because, with the transfer, I was able to achieve my goal.

I underwent heart surgery after becoming sick for a long time and it was during one of the visits when I saw an incoming message. On reading it, my heart was filled with happiness as it was a Mpesa message from GiveDirectly. I immediately removed my face mask due to excitement and the doctor had to remind me that I should put it on since I was at the hospital. Receiving this money meant a lot to me due to the financial challenges that I was facing.

I am a teacher and have so many documents that I had been keeping them under the mattress since I did not have any secure place to keep them. With the transfer, I was able to purchase a cupboard that can be locked. This has made my life different since I have been able to keep all of my important documents in one of the drawers hence I no longer have to worry about them getting damaged. In addition to this, I used KES 2500 to construct a shade for the water tank that I had already bought, KES 9200 on clothes, a blanket, and a three-seater seat, KES 2000 to buy drugs that the doctor had prescribed them for me after my check-up and used the remaining KES 4300 on food.
