What did you spend your second transfer on?
I am still planning on how best to use the transfer. I am thinking of buying building materials that I want to use to build myself a new house as I did have an old house that leaks when it rains. I will buy iron sheets, poles, timber and mud to smear the house. I have a belief that my family will be staying in a comfortable house that does not leak whenever it rains.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
They have made my life different in so many ways. First, I now can afford to buy food for my family's consumption. We can buy a healthy and balanced diet on a daily basis. We also used part of the transfer to take my husband to the hospital. We used it clear the hospital bills and buy medication. He is now well and can work hard to provide for the family. They do nothing wrong.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My husband had an accident and therefore could not do his day to day work to provide for the family. I was left with the burden of providing for the family alone from the little cash I got from casual work. I used to work extra hard to provide for my family before I received the transfer but now it is easy to provide for them as I got the transfer from GiveDirectly. I took my husband to the hospital and he is now feeling better. My husband had an accident and could not work to provide for the family.

What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer on buying building materials that I used to build a new house that as the one I used to live in was not in good condition. Some part of the money I spent on repaying a debt I owed someone and also bought new bedding as the one I had already worn out and the rest on food.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received money, I felt so happy. I was not expecting it. I was overwhelmed.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that my life is very comfortable now. I have most of the things I lacked and that makes my life more comfortable.

The biggest hardship I face is lack of funds to help me run my projects. I had lost my pieces land and a heard of cattle to my neighboring community due to inter tribal war in 1992. I currently live as a squatter in a piece of land which was once belonging to my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the afternoon. I always enjoy company of friends in the afternoon when we have accomplished our daily tasks and have free time share more after a long day of work.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this transfer means a precedented positive change in my life style. I am going to spend my transfer to start up a fish mongering business. From the business, I shall be able to have an extra source of income.
