How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is now changing in that I'm constructing an iron roofed house which will relief me from the burden of sleeping on thatched house. Currently, I sleep in an old thatched house whose roof has been destroyed by the rats hence I spend sleepless nights whenever it rains together with my family. In addition, I managed to hire an acre of land where I cultivated my crops. Previously, I struggled to hire agricultural land since I didn't have enough money.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
According to me, GiveDirectly has done well by giving me the unconditional cash transfer that I used for constructing a house. On the other hand, GiveDirectly has only done me good.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I have spent my second transfer on building materials such as iron sheets, timber, cement, nails etc and for paying the builders.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My daily life has changed positively in that, I have acquired a bicycle that has greatly eased my transportation. In addition, I bought bricks and sand that intend to use for constructing an iron roofed house after receiving my second transfer. Prior to receiving this transfer, I used to move on foot for long distances that was tiresome and time wasting and I didn't have enough money to construct an iron roofed house.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I became very happy the moment I learnt that I had received money from GiveDirectly. I knew that I would address my transportation problem my acquiring a bicycle.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer to purchase construction materials ( 3 trips of bricks and a trips of sand) at UGX 1,070,000. I bought a bicycle at UGX 130,000, house hold items( a mattress, bed sheets and bag) at UGX 233,000, food at UGX 37,000. I also started a business of selling fish at UGX 100,000. I have not yet spent UGX 130,000 but I intend to spend it for weeding my crops.
