How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Previously, I used to wake up so early to look for water in a communal borehole where there were specific times we could draw water. I am tilling my farm right now and I do not have to worry about where to get water before I go to the farm in the morning or after doing tedious farm work. I drilled a borehole in my compound using the transfer so I have a day to day supply of water in my home. Thanks to GiveDirectly, my life has changed tremendously.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Give Directly has really changed my life. I managed to use the transfer to drill a borehole in my compound. Now, I have water in my compound and do not have to wake up so early to go get water from a communal borehole which was tiring and time-consuming.
To me, Give Directly has done absolutely nothing wrong. On the contrary, they have only changed our lives here in the village.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
My previous house was so old. The roof would leak whenever it rained as it had old iron sheets. For a long time I had wanted to save and buy building materials to build a new house but due to the low income I earned from casual work, I could not save and feed the family at the same time. I used the last transfer to buy building materials to build a new house. My family now have a new house that can accommodate us all without fear of being rained on during the rainy season. I also bought livestock for rearing order to get milk for consumption and sell the surplus to get income for the family upkeep.
