How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Prior to receiving the money,we earlier planned to build a house, but the hand was not there to do that.
But now Givedirect came and gave us money to help ourselves and so we are building a house from what we have received from the program

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
My name is Tiangay Manu from Gbedru Town, Dowein District Bomi County Liberia.
My family and I were so happy when we receive our cash. We couldn't have had such huge cash to cover living expenses.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Right now, my husband power-saw is repaired and I am relax that I will do my business.

We use some of my cash to repair my husband power-saw and little portion form my children school fees and save little portion for business.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I will use the cash transfer to sell. We live closer to the sea and my husband is a fisherman. We also have other fishermen in the town and I will be buying their catch to sell to other surrounding towns to support me and my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
When I got news about my daughter getting married.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Lack of money. Right now, the catch from my husband fishing isn't enough to be sold to sustain us. We also have two kids that are not going to school because of lack of funds. As a result, they only know how to speak our dialect and not English.
